Review of Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) by Matthew F. J — 29 Jun 2016

Semi sequel to Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton a few years back, this new adventure is actually quite trip and fun. The first movie was a bit dull but this one manages to really spice things up and create a world of pure visual madness.

This is not a masterpiece but it leaves a lot of room to J. Depp and H.B. Carter to go really full on. S.B. Cohen is a nice addition and of course M. Wasikowska is more determined and fearless than ever, giving a real age to the character of alice who's by now a real warrior lady capable of taking care of herself and her family.

The Box office is a strange game and this new film which is in my humble opinion far more entertaining than the previous one, has bombed big time and seems to have suffered an immense competition (if such thing exist) from an avalanche of huge blockbusters around at the same time.

i'm sure this film will nevertheless have a great DVD and pay-per-view career.
