Truly horrendous, this unevenly paced and utterly charmless retread/sequel of Alice in Wonderland is absolutely confounding in it's astounding ability to bore reasonable adults into a strange sort of stupor.

It's not often that I sit in a theater on opening weekend and feel the need to run out of the building in the middle of a movie so I can' find something better to do with my life but this was one of those times.

Burton proves that he can indeed make a worse film than any of his previous dives into mediocrity (Planet of the Apes) while Johnny Depp loses credibility by portraying the garish and embarrassing Mad Hatter who isn't crazy or confused in the entertaining kind of way.

.. he's crazy and confused in the "don't look at him, kids!" kind of way. Our protagonist is almost completely without charm and seems to be charismatically lacking in the most needful way.

The other impressive cast is totally wasted in strange cameos and unmeaningful characterizations that most audiences will simply find boring. Burton has indeed made a film that was made for the sake of being a Tim Burton movie.

One inwhich he abandons the proper dramatic process in favor the macabre and insincerity of a dank and troubling land of horrors. ... Also Johnny Deep does this dance thing at the end that is utterly repulsive.

.. yeah it's terrible.
