Review of Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) by Lisa K — 29 Nov 2008
A masterpiece film, and if you wish to classify it as a "chick flick", then I would have to say it is probably the purest, best constructed one of all time. Scorsese shows he can direct a female lead just as skillfully as a male one, and Burstyn really solidified her status as one of the strongest actresses to ever grace the screen.
A funny but brutally honest portrayal of a single mother coping with her new life.
