How did I not know Alice, the TV show, was based on Martin Scorsese's first Hollywood movie? Awesome performance by Ellen Burstyn, not to mention Harvey Keitel and Jodie Foster. Tayback's early Mel rules, and, unlike the TV series, Flo is prettier than Vera, who is frightfully plain and disturbingly awkward, here.
