Review of Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) by Jonathan S — 29 Mar 2009
The rare Scorsese film with a female lead. Ellen Burstyn shines in this film and earns her Oscar. I love this film because it is willing to tell a story of a strong female that happens to fail at times.
She wants a better life, but she doesn't always do the right things to get that life. Kris Kristofferson is wonderful as Ellen's love interest. This is an early Martin Scorsese film, but it is unlike anything he would ever do again.
If you get interested in his early work, please see this movie.
