Review of Ali (2001) by Jayakrishnan R — 25 Feb 2016
This film is less about the fights and more about the man. The film starts with him on top of his game and already a Muslim. And ends with him attempting to regain the heavyweight title. So this takes place over about 12 years, but does little to let you know that such large chunks of time have gone by.
The fights are great to watch. They look like real fights and you never know how it's going to play out. Acting is great all around. The pace of the film is rather slow, especially in the third act and it could have done more to ramp up the importance of it all.
But still this is a solid biopic and a great boxing film.
