Review of Alfie (2004) by Michael H — 11 Sep 2008
A better film than its original, although Susan Sarandon is no Shelley Winters. That being said, this film has more vitality than its original, and with the subject being a charming womanizer, the film really does need to be as sexy as its hero, something which the original is not.
There is a time and place for the beautiful boredom along the lines of Bela Tarr, and a story like Alfie isn't one of them.
