Review of Alfie (2004) by Amanda H — 29 May 2011
I'd had an interest in seeing this for years, but kept putting it off because I just couldn't decide if it would be something I'd like. I finally watched it today and I'm really glad I did, because I was very pleasantly surprised.
It's much more than the raunchy, chauvinistic comedy I expected it to be. In fact, this has far more redeeming qualities than I ever would have expected and I finished the movie with that warm fuzzy feeling that usually only comes from the cheesiest of chick flicks.
That's not to say this IS a chick flick, necessarily, but it's much less narrow-minded than I thought it was going to be. This is probably one of my favorite performances from Jude Law.
