Review of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) by Sylvester E — 06 Oct 2014
So though this movie has very little to do with the book I read as a child (and was introduced to by Reading Rainbow), I thought it was pretty cute.
Wonderful cast. Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner were awesome parents. And I adjusted to Ray Donovan's daughter playing the sister faster than expected. Aussie Ed Oxenbould was perfect as Alexander.
There seemed as though there were several scenes that had been trimmed down to keep the film super tight. And though this left a few seemingly loose ends, it was nice to keep the movie under 90 minutes.
Overall, there was a little bit for the whole family. I could definitely see the Faris clan in this flick. Heartwarming without being cheesy. Funny without being corny. We liked it.
