Review of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) by Michele K — 08 Oct 2014
Good wholesome family fun. It has been a while since I have seen a family movie with family being the root of the story. It felt much closer to reality than many of the more obnoxious family entries of late. This family goes through many turmoils, yet figures out a way to stay positive through it all. The funny hits home, the heart is felt, yet neither quite take it as far as it could have gone. At least they weren't over the top with it either. Steve Carrell may not be at his height in the comedic category with this one, although he may have turned in one of his best performances. This movie shines as an example of how to handle tough situations in a positive way.
I'm not sure I would buy this on Blu-ray, but I was happy to take my family out to the theater and see it. Recommendation to any family. 3 out of 5 stars.
