Review of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) by Ecw — 31 Jan 2015
For me, "Alexander" is a good family comedy. An old fashioned movie similar to some of the classics of my childhood.
The lightness of this film it's crossed in the path to better reviews. However, if the general public is open to the silliness and just enjoy, it is still a funny comedy.
In fact, the comic nature emanating from Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner are sufficient to support the lightness of the film that would alienate the older audience and the fast pace of the film is enough to keep the little ones away from boredom and indifference.
However, the end it's just a complete disappointment. I think the correct word is corny.
In any case, "Alexander" achieves a certain integrity addressing family solidarity and portrays a "Terrible, horrible, Nothing Good, poorly Day" which sometimes families have to face. However, no matter how the day can get worse, there is always tomorrow, the next day, the next journey. And so, there is hope that the day can get better. The way this message is passed by Miguel Arteta is part of the reason I enjoyed this Disney work.
