Review of Alex Strangelove (2018) by Tim M — 09 Dec 2018
'Alex Strangelove' is a Netflix coming of age film, written and directed by Craig Johnson (The Skeleton Twins). It's about a high school boy questioning his sexuality while in the throws of a relationship with a girl who wants to have sex with him.
It's a charming feature that follows the personal journey of Alex Truelove (Daniel Doheny) and it's funny, engaging, and refreshing honest and authentic. It's a different generation and comes from a progressive point of view. Everyone in this movie is understanding to other's plights. While that may be a little utopian, the picture sets out and accomplishes what it intends. Perhaps it will open a few minds, perhaps it won't but we're all better off for seeing it. Final Score: 7.9/10.
