Review of Alex Cross (2012) by James M — 14 Nov 2014
I am a loyal James Patterson fan who wanted desperately to love this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the book; however, when I found out that Tyler Perry, and not Idris Elba, would be starring as the title character, I already knew I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I should.
Tyler Perry is a very good director and a strong actor, but I think he came off "too strong". In my opinion, he was overworking the role to distinguish himself from his well-known Madea, instead of just being "Alex Cross".
Matthew Fox does an admirable job in the role of the villain. But Perry and Fox didn't stand a chance with making this movie as strong as the book with the haphazard direction of Rob Cohen.
