Review of Alex & Emma (2003) by Victor L — 28 Jan 2008
:rotten: Stories about writers who need muses to inspire them to create a great book usually are interesting, but I don't really think Alex and Emma is. The movie is exaggerated and very superficial like the last pictures Reiner has directed and written, he's stuck and he shouldn't make another picture until he develops something really good, I know he can. This film is better than A Story of Us and When Harry Met Sally, but it is pretty bad... A romantic comedy that should be romantic and it isn't; should be funny and guess what?... IT ISN'T.
All the jokes Reiner does about sex or erotic content are painful. Hudson's performance as Ylva is terrible, she deserved a Razzie nod for that role.
