Review of Albino Alligator (1997) by Bryan W — 26 Aug 2009
If nothing else, it's a great example of the work of a first time director. In between the fairly standard dialogue exchanges, the attempted sleek camera moves dominate the first part of the movie along with some fairly pedestrian acting and poor attempts at witty dialogue.
Once the film passes the first act, however, the camera settles down and the actors get into the meat and potatoes of subtlety and triggering emotion. This, unfortunately, mounts to a decidedly rushed conclusion, but the middle gives the audience a taste of the talent involved.
When paired with a legitimately interesting plot concept, the two make this film, at the very least, worth one viewing.
