Review of Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996) by Deianira ? Watts — 21 Aug 2009
The first time I saw this movie was when my TV got stuck and we could only watch one channel, until it was fixed. Desperate because of not wathching the "electrical member of the family", I decided that I would watch the feature movie of the channel.
That is when this movie appeared. Believe me, I would have not watched if I wasn't an "Aladdin" fan at that moment, and probably didn't watch this movie again. It has more the essence of a disarticulate and cynical TV special than a TV movie.
Evidently, the laughable loopholes of the awkard story and characters contribute to that sense of boredom that is only breakable to the brillaint scenes of the random sense of humor of the Genie. Other than that, avoid this opportunistic TV movie.
There is a reason why this movie didn't go to theaters.
