Review of Aladdin (2019) by Emperor87 — 22 Jun 2019
Good cityscapes and extra design, costume design was excellent, but the dialogue, songs and casting are all terrible. Aladdin lacks the charm of his cartoon counterpart and the sultan is nothing like his adorable, bouncy, happy cartoon counterpart. Even jafar comes off weak rather than diabolically charming. Iago is pointless and abu is actually ugly and offputting compared to cute.
The only decent thing about this movie was the graphics and cinematography.
I wouldn't see it for money. Maybe if I were bored waiting in a doctor's office.
Also, they took liberties with the story. In the cartoon, Jasmine just wants to be free and travel the world. Here she wants to be sultan. Thanks SJW forced narrative.
Will Smith helps but only a little.. His performance is still super cringy.
In every possible way the cartoon is superior.
