Review of Aladdin (2019) by Compi24 — 27 May 2019
Another live-action remake from Disney that struggles to find its footing within one of two realms; being different enough from the original and being as loyal to the original as possible. The difference between this and, say, this year's "Dumbo" for example, is the sheer amount of iconography to transcribe from animation to live-action in either film.
But that's about it. Like "Dumbo," the new elements introduced here are either horrifically ideated or just flat-out dull. Yes, Will Smith is trying. Yes, the visuals are palatable. There's just simply not much else here.
