Review of Akira (1988) by Ajai K — 18 May 2013
A Tale of a society on the edge of collapse and the hope that is embodied in the mysterious figure, Akira is a dystopian sci-fi Epic that is overwhelming in scope. With its depiction of revolutionaries and discontent people 'Akira' brings in great depth to this future story, that could the logical conclusion of a capitalist oriented society bend on gaining power and controlling it without proper restraint.
Akira has arresting visuals, gutsy characters and a plot that is so complicated and at times incoherent though not dull, but a penetrating one and one that eventually consummates.
