Review of Akira (1988) by Carl H — 06 Jan 2012
A masterpiece of cinema and one of the best films ever made. This is the essential Manga film, that goes beyond that Genre in leaps and bounds. The film is set in Tokyo, in a dystopian future, just after world war III has happened.
In this classic a teenage biker gang have to stop one of their out of control friend's Tetsuo, who gains incredible super powers. He then grows too powerful for his own good, causing a path of destruction, which eventually leads to his downfall.
The animation is visually stunning and the music is incredible. This is a film that every, Manga fan must own. This is a real classic film.
