Great visuals + meandering story = Akira the movie. I understand they couldn't have taken the graphic novel's story literally and translated it (simply because the GN wasn't even DONE yet..
.) but they still turned it into a nightmare of a mess. Still, the story passes through the slick animation like a hot knife through butter; you don't really care, so long as you get your butter.
