Katsuhiro managed to create not just a enjoyable sci-fi animation, breaking the rules of the cartoons policy (no violence, no talking about sex, no strong language...) but also transformed a 6 vol manga story in a 2 h film with great stile.
akira is punk, and it was very important for the development and the grow of this anime universe we see today, as well it has re-writed all the concept of movies and cartoons.
