Review of Akira (1988) by Laura M — 17 Feb 2015
For a twenty-seven year old movie based on a manga that started thirty-three years ago set in a dystopian future four years from now, this movie holds up. Like some 80's movies you go "Wow, this is so 80's it hurts," but Akira isn't that.
Akira can stand with the modern dytopian explosion happening right now. The animation also holds up unlike some of its contemporaries. I loved this movie and I'm surprised it took me about twenty years to get to watching it.
