Review of Akira (1988) by Hog M — 15 Nov 2010
Akira still stands as one of the best animated films from Japan. The story is interesting, engrossing, and emotional. The animation is way ahead of its time with an enormous amount of frames compared to most.
The complexity of the plot may be a sticking point for many people, especially the last 15 minutes, though if you followed the plot of 2001: A Space Odyssey you can probably follow this one just fine.
This film is a masterpiece but definitely not for children.
