My Review.
This was almost the perfect Anime movie of violence but I guess that know that I think about to me the perfect anime is Princess Mononoke which is my favorite violent film cause Nausicaa of the valley wind isn't all that violent nor is Castle of the sky there just great anime kid's films. But I've heard of Akira and I've been wanting to watch it for a while. I have also heard they are suppose to make this into a live action movie which will be kind of cool.
While was watching I couldn't quite get what the story was but further in the film I understood. The film revolves around Kaneda9or at least I hope it is he is the only one on the front cover) who is the leader of a bike gang and one night when his friend Tetsuo is kidnapped and is av fierce individualistic member of the gang. Tetsuo is pursued when he escapes after being given an insidious energy source that has rendered him of telekinetic powers. Kaneda must stop Testsuo before he loses control of his new power.
The animation is nothing short of amazing cause anime always makes for the best animation(well at least most of the time)but this movie looks like it would work better as a live action film. In the end of how start to finally put the pieces of the puzzle of what this movie was about it was a lot like Chronicle(2011) in the end where Testuso went on a rampage and killed a lot of people and attempted to kill Kaneda. He was given the powers of Akira which well I don't want to confuse anyone but it's pretty cool.
The characters are cool I especially liked Kaneda, Testuso and The doctor. The doctor was the one who tried to take all of the energy out from a computer cause it looked like it was touching him and was the one who put the Akira energy source in the first place and well he didn't like what happened in the end. Kaneda is the gang leader who try's to make sure Tetsuo keeps his cool and the other members of the gang help him out. Tetsuo is the youngest member of the motorcycle gang and he loses control after having beating up everyone who's ever gotten in his way. He attempts to kill Kaneda cause Kaneda would always save him from situations and he was sick and tired of it so when he gets his power he goes nuts.
Akira is an awesome energetic action animation motion picture with great stuff but would work better as a live action film.
