Review of Akira (1988) by Viktor B — 21 Aug 2013
One of the best films not just in the history of anime and science fiction, but film in general. Anyone who loves Japanese animation or sci fi owe it to themselves to see this one. Beyond truly memorable and iconic visual sequences it delivers commentary about society and Japanese culture all while delivering pure thrills ranging from government corruption, the abuses of technology, and the dark side of modernization.
It's not heavy handed in the way some films are and anyone can easily enjoy it.
