Review of Akira (1988) by Erick F — 31 Dec 2012
Akira is wild, violent, sexy, intense, apocalyptic, dark, insane, unique, spectacular, scary, shocking, controversial, visionary and ultimately kickass. Unquestionably, It is among the best animated films ever of the post-Disney era. Influential in every sense of the word and authentic in its straightforward depiction of society's decadence, like if suddenly the human race returned to its primitive Easy Rider status after finding out that technology is the new omniscient monster to be destroyed, Akira shows the fusion of the flesh with wire and metal. Conclusively, the ending is a horrifying allegory of our destiny.
97/100.
