Review of Akira (1988) by James R — 31 May 2011
A very strange movie. Considered to many as a classic and a pioneer in anime drawing. I personally like the film, but it may be a bit over the top for many and a bit too weird for some.
The movie was a huge breakout for anime in the US and because of thus the film type still is being seen by Americans today. The story is a bit over the top, but it's basically about a future Japan that has the government experimenting on a young boy when his biker gang friends come to save him.
The storyline is a bit jagged, but I still consider it a watch just to enjoy the animation and over the top action.
