Review of Akeelah and the Bee (2006) by K J E — 06 Dec 2007
Sickly sweet, heart-warming family drama revolving around a spelling bee. Not exactly adrenaline filled, but very compelling. Palmer and Fishburne are wonderful and while a bit predictable, the story and message is very inspiring.
Life lessons aside, it's worth watching if only for some of the words the kids have to spell!! A bit like 'Rocky' with a dictionary and an equally cool finale. Warm and fuzzy, worth a look!
