Review of Akeelah and the Bee (2006) by Teresa S — 26 Feb 2011
Not as good as Spellbound, cliché at times, and emotionally dependent on the girl as a 'underdog', the movie is worth a watch or two, but not much more. Admittedly, the acting from Fishburne and Palmer is pretty good, creating characters you legitimately care for. Too bad its been done a million times before.
Rating: (Low) Matinée.
