Review of Akeelah and the Bee (2006) by Adriel T — 01 Jan 2008
I'm not a big fan of family films. I get sick and tired of their predictability, poor acting, and one-sided characters. This movie, however, took everything about family films that give them a bad rap, and turned the genre inside out.
'Akeelah' is smart, intense, and full of interesting characters. Young Keke Palmer's performance is just one of many reasons to see this tremendous film.
