Review of Ajami (2009) by Pedro Matias C — 08 Apr 2010
As a film this is excellent stuff. If it would be set elsewhere. As it is, it is biaised. Despite the achieved display of tensions between the jew, muslim (and even christian) communities struggling to live side by side in Jaffa-Tel-Aviv-Israel, it is too biaised to be credible.
Why are all the bad guys in the film palestinian? and why the jews are always shown as victims, those who get stabbed to death, murdered, shot, victims of drug dealers? etc? In a subtle but unacceptable way, this film manages to portray jews as innocent and only trying to survive.
.. Definitely most israeli films only seem to want to clear their responsibility in the on going conflicts... Basta!
