Review of Aisha (2010) by Fazal I — 01 Sep 2010
I was expecting "Emma," considering the makers kept going on about how "Aisha" is based on "Emma." What I wasn't expecting was "Clueless." A whole lot of it - almost 40% of the scenes, to be exact. I wasn't pleased. The first half was mediocre, due to the severe rehash of scenes. However, the second half got better and I honestly enjoyed the casting. Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol had great chemistry. The supporting cast was great as well, the best of the lot being Amrita Puri - who was SO adorable as Shefali. Songs were great, namely "Gal Mitti Mitti Bol.".
Not a fabulous movie, but a nice entertainer. I wish it had been a little (OK a LOT) more original though. That was a downer. I don't mind being inspired by books, but I do mind being inspired by other movies.
