Review of Airport 2013 (2014) by David F — 06 Jan 2009
Great to see Lancaster and Dino on the screen together. Martin is perfect for the part of the swinging, stewardess screwing airline captain. You can practically smell the booze from the Admiral's Club on him.
However, the film has dated badly - sets are very stagey and badly lit, and it's kind of funny to watch as the film ticks off situation after situation that must have seemed of an 'adult' nature at the time (abortion, depression and God help us, divorce) but those subjects have been dealt with so many times in so many subsequent films and TV shows that they seem trite now.
Stapleton and Hayes stand out, though their roles are rather caricatures rather than characters.
