(5 Stars) There are very few comedies where something makes me laugh in every scene. Airplane! is one of my favorite comedies. Spoof movies get a bad rep these days thanks to films that end with "Movie" (ie Epic Movie and Disaster Movie).
There was a time when spoof humor was not all topical jokes which age very poorly (watch Date Movie now and count the number of jokes that don't make sense anymore... actually, DON'T watch Date Movie).
Great spoofs like Airplane! and Spaceballs and Naked Gun parody other films without filling the script with humor that ages quickly. Even after all these years, the amount of laughs I get from this movie never died down.
Whenever I hear that a movie by the Zuckers or Jim Abrahams is coming out, I can't wait to see it because they are professionals at what they do. Airplane! is an essential comedy to watch because it is very, VERY funny.
