Review of Airplane! (1980) by Samuel H — 08 Jul 2014
The reason for it's continued popularity is the easily quotable dialogue, and while the constant quoting of it for over 30 years may have inadvertently robbed the film of some of its comedic impact, the sophomoric absurdity always entertains me and the spoof material still works because much of what its mocking is genre cliches instead of just making references (although its worth noting that some of the reference humor here is pretty inspired).
