Review of Air Guitar Nation (2006) by Tim H — 29 Nov 2007
To be honest, I didn't think I'd be so riveted. I thought it'd be funnier. Um...not so much.
I Air Bass. That's right. Everywhere I go, I Air Bass. Why? Because everybody air guitars. Especially the Finnish people. But again, I don't take it seriously. No one should take it seriously. Now, I'm not saying that people shouldn't put pride into performance, but to say that air guitaring will lead to world peace? Gah.
But here's the fun bit. I was actually rooting for C-Diddy. (That's right...C-Diddy.) I was pretty sure that I already knew the results of the competition, but I had to make sure he won. I would have actually been depressed if he lost. Mainly because of Bjorn Turoque. He sucked. He kept saying how he was so much different than he egomaniacal alter-ego in real life, but in all the discussions with him...you realize that he really is a turd. C-Diddy, on the other hand, was completely modest and humble about what he was doing. He was silly about it, but he honestly had a respect (if not a newfound respect) for the artform (if you can call it that.) I really admire that.
Overall, this movie is silly how seriously it takes itself, but it has the talent and story behind it to make you look past the absurdity of the entire situation.
