3: An extremely entertaining action film. Harrison Ford is at the top of his game here and he has a superb supporting cast to work with as well: Gary Oldman and Glenn Close stand out. Action pictures that aren't reaching for anything but raw entertainment value don't get much better than this.
Being satisfied with simply being a standard action flick does restrict the film somewhat, but knowing what one is and then making the very best of it without reaching for something beyond ones abilities is a hallmark of successful and entertaining films.
This one hasn't gotten old yet and I doubt it will anytime soon. Wolfgang Peterson definitely knew exactly what he was doing when he combined the Office of the President with Harrison Ford, a fight to save ones family, and defend ones countries principles, and then set it all on Air Force One.
