Review of Air (2015) by Lovro H — 22 Aug 2015
I haven't really expected much from this movie, and the main reason I even saw it was Norman Reedus. The movie's plot is interesting. 2 men held underground in a facility where they have to keep an eye out on the rest of the civilization.
Rest of the civilization being a couple of people held in some sort of 'coffins' due to the world being full of poison air. The movie's main characters are interesting, and both Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou do a great job.
But, we don't really know much about the characters, or why the world is like this now. It needs more backstory if the movie wants us to care about its characters. The movie looks great. It reminded me of the first Alien a little bit.
The sense of tension is almost constant, but the ending was underwhelming. I felt the whole conflict between the main two characters was forced, and didn't feel necessary. There is one really interesting plot twist at about half of the movie's runtime, though.
All in all, a good sci-fi thriller which could've been much better if the characters and the story had more to it.
