Review of Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer (2003) by Omar L — 09 Jan 2010
Aileen Wornous is unique in that she was a female serial killer which is something that's virtually unheard of. Her story is ugly, cold, and full of tragedy. I watched this documentary because of it's positive reviews, but I was a little disappointed.
I found myself a lot more interested in Aileen's past then her intimate on screen interviews or the boring narration by the British filmmaker Nick Broomfield. For me there's no real mystery here.
.. she's evil and full of anger and killed men. End of story. Her past isn't any kind of excuse for her behavior and the filmmaker seems to sypathize with her at times. I would have liked at least a little exploration into the victims lives, but virtually none was given.
6/10 from me.
