Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Benoît R — 12 Jul 2011
While originally intended as a pet project of Stanley Kubrick, he chose to pass believing Spielberg's sensibilities were better suited for such material. Had Kubrick lived to oversee the production, it's glaring faults may not have been so apparent.
.. directors like Kubrick and Spielberg could not be farther apart on the spectrum, and while there remains a sense of dazzle and wonder to be had in the midsection of the film's story, the first act is all Kubrick.
Cold, objective, and unnerving.
