''You are a real boy. At least as real as I've ever made one...''.

A highly advanced robotic boy longs to become real so that he can regain the love of his human mother. David is 11 years old. He weighs 60 pounds. He is 4 feet, 6 inches tall. He has brown hair. His love is real. But he is not.

Haley Joel Osment: David.

Frances O'Connor: Monica Swinton.

The modern Pinocchio with a Sci-Fi Futuristic twist from Spielberg may look dazzling but it turns out to be a rather disappointing let down showing everyone makes mistakes even a great director such as Spielberg.

Granted it's not all bad, it's effects are faultless, A.I's plot just spirals off into confusion after so much potential and ideas coming forth.

Granted Osment's acting is wooden enough to me to be robot-like and Jude Law manages to look plastic while giving a performance that isn't as memorable as hoped.

Did like William Hurt popping up as the Creator.

I don't overly dislike A.I. and it is emotional to a degree but the point and the story at a stage become diluted and you end up ending the film with a bitter after taste of something that should have been greatness. Hell it looks like greatness but looks aren't always enough, you need substance and to keep the viewer engaged.

Frustrating because I saw this on one of my Birthday days and I was hyped up about it. Even having a 2nd viewing which involved the Cinema flooding to my delight, but maybe it was an omen that sometimes no matter how hard you try to love something, you can only go so far.

A.I. is a perfect example of this, which I've seen the good in it and the bad and I think the effort can only be justified by a solid 3 anything less or more wouldn't be sensible.

''The greatest single human gift - the ability to chase down our dreams.''.
