Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Peter N — 02 Aug 2013

What would the world really be like 300 years from now. This movie raises some strange, interesting and terrifying questions about the human society, love and morals. Is it okey to abuse them because of the simple fact that they aren`t human? What will happen if we go too far? Should we really play God? Can humans truly love a machine? These questions are disturbing and thought provoking.

This movie doesn`t go incredibly indepth or all out with it, but it does adress the questions well in my opinion. This is a fantastic film no doubt about it. I loved this film , absolutely loved it. I haven`t seen all of Spielberg`s films but I have to say this movie is by far my favourite.

It`s not perfect, no movie is, but it`s pretty damn close. The acting is fenomenal, the script is so well written. The directing is top notch. Spielberg always hits a homerun with the drama and knows how to pull the right strings, this movie is no exception.

There were countless times I cried through this motion picture mostly by Haley Joel Osment`s performance and the beautiful screenplay. The characters are ofcourse very likable and well developed. Speilberg did and excellent job bringing the world to life.

You felt invested in the world, it`s history, it`s politics and the society. The only gripes I have with the movie was the circus. I would have liked if that screen time could be used to further explore Monica`s inner struggles.

Other than that I think the movie is all that I wanted it to be and more. There is nothing less I can give it than 5/5. It`s a must see and for me one of my favourite drama films ever made.
