Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Noah F — 22 Aug 2015
I'm going to pretty far in depth with this review, I rarely ever do that, but this is a movie that has affected me in a way no other film has. And it isn't entirely for the good either.
I want to start off by saying, that as of now, I have seen this movie once, and it was a couple of days before writing this review. I want to say that A.I. is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Would I put it in a top 10 list? Maybe not. But it is definitely a film that I will defend and keep defending, simply because of how it was made.
Steven Spielberg went through a lot making this film. The story and most of the script came from Stanley Kubrick, who originally was going to direct the film while Steven produced it. They often fought, saying that the other was best for the directing chair. Kubrick didn't think he could make that emotional family movie that Steven could. But after Kubrick's death, Steven decided that it was in his best interest, and intentions to bring Kubricks vision to life.
What we get is a pretty accurte portrayal on Steven Spielberg making a Stanley Kubrick movie. He really does a great job in replecating some of Kubricks cinematography. The movie looks great, has an absolutely amazing score by John Williams, and a very compelling story.
The movie isnt critically praised, and a lot of people find the film to be a mess, or flat out bad. You will find thosr people however, that find A.I. to be emotional, full of adventure, and full of life. The film is acted great, and it takes you on a long ride that you will never forget. I loved A.I.
I loved it from the minute it started to the minute it ended. Yes, I thought the ending was very needed and pleasing. I cannot wait to go back and watch this film.
The reason I am not giving this a higher rating is because I will most certainly admit that it is not a perfect film by any means. It can get a little chunky and cheesy here and there, but it is the characters and soundtrack that keep you watching.
I loved A.I.
May just be my favorite Steven Spielberg movie as of now.
I give A.I. (Artifical Intelligence) an 'A-'.
