Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Highs&Lows O — 13 Jun 2011
Classified: Very Fresh.
Defining Moment: David gets his 'One Day'.
Highs:
Visually Stunning and great acting by majority who are involved. Spielberg chooses to go a darker route then in his previous Sci-Fi films, which is not entirely a bad thing.
Lows:
Too many false endings so the movie dragged a little, I also don't think that this film reached the needed level of intensity and depression that it should have gotten too.
H&L Conclusion:
With much of A.I. being a version of Pinnochio it is still a really good film. The acting is superb with, I believe, Jude Law stealing this film with his humour and layered acting. Haley Joel Osment as David is fine as well, bringing in so much emotion and connection to his character. Not as great as previous Spielberg films I felt at times this story lacked depth and proper explanation, something that is not a usual occurrence when it comes to Spielberg.
Star Rating: * * * * * * * * 8/10.
