Review of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Alan L — 15 Sep 2012
Supertoys last all summer long. I guess it must be 10 years since I first saw A.I. - back then I found it too slow, long, boring, clinical and emotionless. Re-watching it now I can see that reaction was more to do with me, and how I was feeling at the time, rather than the film itself.
Now I find myself really moved by the story. The production design is amazing and there's some incredible work by ILM. I think this is underrated film is close to being one of Spielberg's top 5.
Oh, and let's not forget the amazing performance by Haley Joel Osment as robot David, which starts out creepy and then evolves into something heartbreaking. I wonder what HJO is doing now? Still acting? Or maybe waiting eternally for his mother.
