Review of Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) by Phil N — 12 Jul 2008
Inspired to watch this after BBC's excellent Imagine documentary on Herzog, Aguirre came as a bit of a disappointment. The story of a mad conquistador leading an army in search of the lost city of El Dorado, I just didn't connect with the film.
Some inspired scenes and a great soundtrack, but not quite the tour de force I'd expected.
