Review of Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) by Seabury N — 26 Jul 2008
This movie creates a sense of detatchment, as if you are some sort of god yourself, watching the folly of man from a distance. There is no suspense, instead you are treated to the enormity of the river.
All dialogue seems like pitiful attempts to cover up the silence, and the overarching hand of doom. The cinematography is superb, the acting is superb, the descent into madness is horribly believable.
Amazing movie.
