Quite simply one of the greatest films ever made. Watching this film is like staring into an inescapable abyss. We know what is in store for these characters and that they will be swallowed up by the jungle.
Greed will never triumph over pure, unrelenting nature. In a way, I think Werner is laughing at these poor fools. Much better than Apocalypse Now. That is saying something.
