Review of Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) by Randy P — 21 Sep 2008
The first case I've found in my watching of "classics" where I think people only say they like it because they're supposed to. I read so much about the performances and how wonderful they are, but they really weren't much, especially considering that with all of the indulgent (but admittedly beautiful) scenic shots.
There are some really cool shots (the end comes to mind), but overall it's mostly boring, and the low budget really hurts it - mostly evidenced in the German audio track laid over top of actor saying lines in English.
..it's not even Kinski's voice! Worth a look for serious film buffs only.
